The “necessary things” requested of the Gentiles are not marked as necessary to salvation and are therefore not a reimposing of the Law upon them; this is a request addressed to the Gentiles, a request which asked them to abstain from foods and practices abominable to Jewish feelings, foods and practices which their pagan past and their pagan surroundings made natural and easy for them. It is understandable that abstention from “unchastity” should be included also in the request,
